As some of you know, I will be transfering the contents of my 125gal tank over to a brand new 100 gallon. My concern is the sand bed. When I transfer it, isn't it gonna take forever to settle??? Will I be able to put the corals and everything back into their new tank immediatly? Actually, I have no choice, I have no where else to put them! Thanks for any advise! Oh, also, I was thinking of adding a couple bags of new sand (like aragamax or something). Is this going to cause problems for me. Thanks for the help as usual! Dennis
Dennis, when I moved my tank into the 75 i put down the new sand(which had been soaking in old saltwater for a couple months) first and then scooped the old sand bed out ogf the old tank with a square tupperware container. There was always water that rose to the top that looked pretty nasty so I poured that off and spread the sand carefully over the new sand. I ran my big aquaclear hang on to help get the muck out in the water column. In about 8 hrs it settled enough to see to put the liverock and stuff back in. I heald the live stuff in a 100qt icechest with several powerheads. Be careful of fish in small places I lost both my argi angel and royal gramma to power heads hicky syndrome
