Aiptasia and more....
Ok,
I had a large Aiptasia that I inherited from the live rock that I bought from a LFS. So, I followed the instructions that everyone tells you NOT to do (I scraped the thing off of the rock). Not to my surprise, a few days later, I found about 100 small Aiptasia growing on a rock that was close to the one with the large one.
I decided to go with a natural predator and threw in a peppermint shrimp. I tell you what, this shrimp is an Aiptasia eating MACHINE. Right now, only two days later, I have only one small Aiptasia left (The MACHINE most not have found it while feasting on the hundreds of others). So, if anyone has any questions about peppermint shrimp and Aiptasia... well mine worked!
But, now that the Aiptasia has been eradicated from the tank, what do I feed the shrimp to keep it alive? Its a relatively new tank.
Also, can you guys comment on my tank setup and offer suggestions.
20gal High
1 301 Hagen Powerhead (getting one more when corals are intro.)
1 Aqua Clear hang on filter with a bag of charcoal, bio cartridge, and foam filter
Prizm Skimmer
20ibs live rock
20 ibs live sand
2 32w PC lights... one daylight. one actinic
I have about 9 blue legged hermits, 2 red hermits
3 turbo snails and 2 astrea snails
I plan on putting in shrooms, softies (may try pulsing xenia)
I also want to put a hammer, other LPS, and open brain coral.
What type of alkaline and Calcium supplements should i be adding besides Kalkwassser, Kent, Sea Chem, and what type?
Thanks for all your help
