NOT the shipment
My post about the shipment!!
For those who don't know (or forgot). I was the winner of the contest here at TRT and won a package from the sponsor IPSF (www.ipsf.com). This is my belated report (sorry, I've wanted to post sooner, but life has been incredibly hectic lately, and I really wanted to do this justice).
What I ordered:
6 Baby Bristle Worms (captive-bred)
6 Trocus Grazers (captive-bred)
Feather Caulerpa (long)
Grape Caulerpa
6 MicroHermits
5 Coralline Algae Booster Frags
6 Baby Hawaiian Turbo Grazers (captive-bred),
Anthelia Polyps (captive-bred)
Live Sand Activator.
(I think that's the correct list, The email I sent is at home).
Packing and Delivery
Outstanding. The package arrived on time (except for the FedEx guy not knocking on my door, and having to come back - nothing new here
), and was VERY well packed. Arrive alive?? Absolutely. I didn't have a SINGLE loss. This is additionally impressive because the numbers above did NOT reflect the acutal amounts sent. I got at least 9 bristle worms, I think a dozen hermits, etc.
How's it now?
As far as I can see, everything is great. Of course, bristle worms and hermits promptly disappeared into my 80-100 live rock, but I still see them sometimes, so I know they're there. I knew that with my baby hippo, both types of calurpa were a gamble, but it worked out. The grape calurpa was a nice dining experience, but the hippo doesn't care for the feather (which has really taken off, already at least doubling in size - I'm gonna have to start trimming it and giving it to my yellow tang in my predator tank).
I strategically placed the corraline booster frags and am seeing some of it proliferate and expand - absolutely beautiful.
I honestly didn't know what the anthelia polups were, but I ordered them because they sounded interesting. They are. They attached to my live rock by the next day and had expanded to normal. They are growing at a rate that will enable me to frag them and make a couple of more colonies in the next month or so.
I don't know how to judge the live sand activator, except that since I introduced it, I have started seeing (I assume) nitrogen bubbles from my sand bed (unfortunately, I didn't do before and after testing).
Other Comments
This was my first time mail-ordering livestock. I've heard many horror stories that have kept me from gambling, but here the price was certainly right
. I WILL BE ORDERING FROM IPSF AGAIN. They were great at advising me where I had questions, and I consider the advice they gave me to be right on. If you've been considering trying mail-order, or wondering about IPSF. GO FOR IT!
