I think I'm gonna be sad...
I have this gorgeous purple long-tenticle anemone that seems to be having a nervous breakdown.
It constantly moves all over the tank, settling temporarily in one location, only to move to another spot a day or so later.
Its really annoying (sort of like having someone at work who constantly keeps moving your chair when your not looking).
Now, I've had anemones before that have done this, but not to this degree.
Currently, it has moved into one of the tunnels I've created in my rockwork and does not intend to come out anytime soon.
This behavior I am not familiar with but I've heard that it might be an indication that its preparing to split.
Anyway, I'm concerned if this is the case since I plan on giving it away to one of my friends who is absolutely ga-ga over it.
However, if it is indeed preparing to split, I will leave it alone until it does and then give one away to my friend and keep the other one for myself.
Is anyone familiar with this type of situation? If it is preparing to split, how long will something like this take?
The only other thing I can think of is that the halide is too intense for it and it has moved to a shaded area to compensate for this.
I truely hope that it's going to split. I really don't want to part with it, but my friend hooked me up with a lid, so...
