Geez... what's going on here? I've been to all the LFS around my county and can't find any caulerpa for sale. I know there's been a lot of talk about banning the macro-algae, but I don't think it has been taken effect. There's so many different kinds, you would think these stores might have some. You know what, I'm wrong, I've seen a 5inch strand at one store, but wasn't for sale. Anyway, I'm from Ventura County, Camarillo City to be exact. I'd appreciate if a fellow reefer in the area had some to spare, so I can start my refugium, to drop me an e-mail. We can trade algaes, I have some nice red macroalgae that is slow growing. Thanks.
I know it is a bit of a drive but I know I saw some for sale at Aquatic Outlet near LAX(105&405). They have a website at nullwww.aquaticoutlet.com." target="_blank">www.aquaticoutlet.comnullwww.aquaticoutlet.com.</a> I was just there I few days ago but I would call just in case if my memory is failing me again.
hello and thanks for the replies. Grimmy, it is quite a drive just for caulerpa, but I might drive out to Jeff's Exoticfish out it Gardena where they have the 9corals for $99. They might have some there. And Jack, the reason why that I don't wanna buy it from an OLS is to save on the cost of shipping. I'm trying to keep the cost of the hobby as cheap as possible...hence the frugal reefer. Always looking for deals and steals. Take care.
I've got lots of feather caulerpa in my refugium, and I can send you some next "prune" day.
I've mailed some to another reefer in CA recently, in fact it got grounded during the terrorist attacks, and got there late, a bit smelly but enough to salvage.
i can also give up some feather, straight leaf, grape, and tang heaven red, if you pay the 5.00 for shipping! i am always trying to get rid of it or throwing it out! i know someone else that has a 1lbs bag of speagetti macro for 10.00 shipped. i'm buying some from her. so if i can offer what i have or her email address let me know. i'm a little closer than georga
aaron
Caulerpa is something I also do not see often in LFS, and if I do, the stores ask a premium for them. I find the grape variety is more delicate to change, goes sexual more easily. The best way to buy some from another member who prunes a lot and frequently sells them for a small fee. The caulerpa ships pretty well, just acclimate with care.
I sure would like to get my hands on some caulerpa for my tank. All varieties welcomed since I just got a yellow tang. I would be willing to pay for shipping. Just email me the details.
As for Jeff's Exotic Fish, I was also planning to go there tommorrow since they should be getting in some new corals in but due to delays they haven't had any since the tragedy. I will call them up today to see if they got some in yet. As for Aquatic outlet, it is on the way if you are planning to go to Jeff's....worth checkin out.
Oh i forgot...Jeff's does have caulerpa on a rock on occasion and it is included in the 9 for $99 deal.
