I don't know what that thing is but its fingers are HUGE!!!!!
Actually, it appears to be an Isopod, of which there are many, many species. It seems similar to this one: http://www.mov.vic.gov.au/crust/mov1680t.html
As a general rule, I don't trust the larger Isopods. Some are parasitic and can cause fish deaths/injury. Of course, our tanks are full of all sorts of Iso/Amphi/Cope-pods that are completely benign and beneficial.
Horge can probably shed some more light on this particular one.

What a cute little Bugger kinda reminds me of those little land critters that roll up into a ball when you touch them, but these guys kill fish?
