Hi tdwyatt, I've been reading for sometime the thread on DSB's. I'm interested because I'm building a 180gal built in with refugium and sump. I wanted to get your opinion on Refugiums and what you like to put in them? I see you are against DSB's because of their ability to adsorb Phosphate. I had been thinking of putting a DSB in my refugium. I just can't get away from all the News about Nitrate reducing bacteria in the DSB.
I don't want to screw up this tank before it starts. On the other hand, I had my heart set on a low maintenace "natural" tank that I read about. Would a RDSB in a refugium with Calurpa be a bad idea. What if it had low-water flow, (this is how I plumbed it because this is what I was told on many occations).
Your kind response is much appreciated. I've been reading a lot of posts and your's always seems to have the most thought out respose.
PS. Do you have any personal experience with a DSB? How long?
Sincerely,
Dan
