Which lighting option is better for my tank

Im looking at these 2 lighting options for my 10gallon tank. My current setup is 2 10watt mini compacts. The first is 8 watts more than I have now. The other is 96 watt and im worried that it is overkill for what I have. I have no corals, only fish, crabs, live sand and rock.

Which would be a better choice for me?

Thanks for your help.

For what size tank is this for? If you aren't keeping photosynthetic inhabitants, the go with the a color temp at the lower end of intensity since you don't want to be growing nuisance algae.

If you are going strictly fish only I wouldn't go lower than 10k, lower than that is getting closer to natural daylight spectrum and can tend to grow more nuisance algaes.

No on the corals. Fish only.

I guess my basic question is between the 28 watt vs. 96 watt fixtures. Second would be the intensity of the bulbs.

I would stick with the 28 watt, 96 watt is definitely going to grow some stuff in your fish only tank. 28 watt will grow coralline, stay on top of water quality and you won't get a ton of nuisance algae.

Ok. Would the 28 watt Coralife 50/50™ Compact Fluorescent Lamp included, will this also fit my needs? This is basically what im using now, I would guess this would be ok too.

Thank again for your help.

Here is the stats on the bulb.

50/50 lamps combine 50% 10,000K with 50% True Actinic 03 Blue phosphors for essential biological reactions.
