Which 12 gallon ready type nano is best?

Hello
I was looking at 2 different types of "ready" nano 12 gallon tanks both look good.
My main concern is not the light but the filtration and overall quality .
Its a gift for my brother in law and I am not into the smaller tanks thus not up on them much. Will house a pair of the small clown type .
It would need space for a heater .

Thank you

I have one of the 12g JBJ nano cubes. Over all I like it, especially for the price I got it at ( $100 bucks for the tank, stand, refractometer, & ph probe)

The 2x24watt bulbs in it seem to be doing fine so far, I'm going to put a 96w power quad in it eventually, or a 70w hqi.

I know they make skimmers that will fit into one of the chambers in the pack filtration, but alot of people make custom ones. I'm going to strip the black backing off of mine on the second chamber and mount an LED setup on the back of the tank to turn that chamber into a refugium. I've seen a couple other people online do this mod succesfully and for dirt cheap. I will let you know how mine turns out with the DIY LED setup.

Only down side I've had with the tank so far is the drain to the filtration doesn't skim the surface for crap. But its a $10 fix at most if u buy the actual surface skimmer overflow box online, or just do it super ghetto style like me and buy a cassette tape and use the case on it

I'd have 17 cents today.

Thanks I ordered it few days ago after reading your reply. Should infact arrive today or tommorrow the latest. I did add the surface skimmer .
The lighting will stay as is since its just for some live rock -pair small clowns and some feather dusters . Maybe mushrooms to but the lighting will be fine for that. I like big tanks but wanted a reliable desk top tank .
Again thanks

hey Fleck,
I too have the JBJ 12g NanoCube Deluxe, and I really like it. Once you get it, I would remove the bioballs and possibly tweak the filtration system a bit (personal preference).
The only issue I have with my tank is that it can overheat easily - built into the tank are little props and holes to "prop up" your tank lid if it gets too hot. I actually lost a few fish because the tank got to be almost 84 degrees when it shouldn't be above 82. Just a warning.
Good luck!

Thanks I got it today .
Yes I intend to put in 12lbs live rock will remove the bio balls . I might cut back a bit on the heating if to warm. My AC is on at 68 in fish 'room" rest of the house is 70 but with all that light might be to warm. My other tank has several floursecents 50/50 since its not a reef but fowler so heating isnt a problem but this tank with all the neat lighting is intense by my standards anyway and I plan on Mushrooms only nothing that needs intense lighting but glad I got it as it looks great .
If it wasnt that my wife would go insane I would wake her up now to see how neat it looks with water in it lol as intend to let it run few days just to see how everything goes before I begin to add the rock .

Thanks
