Time for my next project
Hey all, not sure how many of you read about my mishap with my 10 gallon nano tank. Basically, it started leaking in my office yesterday and after some emergency procedure I got the leak plugged, but now I am left figuring out what to do.
Well, I decided ... lets price out what it would cost to redo the tank completely. I have been thinking about adding a sump and skimmer to it anyway, so I figure this is a sign I need to do it sooner rather than later. Thus, my questions.
I am considering either a redo of my 10 gallon or uping the size to a 15 gallon or 20 long. I am thinking of using a 5 1/2 gallon tank for the sump if I go 10 gallon or a 10 gallon sump for the 15 or 20 gallon sizes. What I am wondering about is who makes a good skimmer for this size tank ... with a small footprint to fit in the sump size I am considering. I am wanting to build the sump so it has two compartments ... skimmer/drain side separated by a bubble trap from the return/heater side. I am also toying with the idea of a closed loop verses having the tank drilled for one drain and two return lines. Any other thoughts about design?
