Time for a new nano thread?!?! here's my setup, feedback welcome :)

The display tank is 20g with about 20lbs mixed live rock, 5 total corals including 1 small zoo colony, shrooms, pulsing xenia, frogspawn, and rose bta. Fish load is a small pair of Ocellaris clowns, lighting is a single 65w pc 50/50 retrofit. Additional filtration and water flow is accomplished via an emp. 280. The overflow drains to a 15g refugium with 4 varieties of macro, this in turn is pumped (MJ600) up to a 7g mantis tank which contains a Gonodactylus Chiragra (3") and 3 slower growing species of macro algae, this overflows back into the return chamber of the sump, then back to main display (return pump is a MJ1200). The main sump is lit with a 13w generic light strip, the mantis tank is lit by a Coralife mini PC fixture, 18w (9 watt actinic, 9 watt 10k).

Has been running about 6 months, light upgraded 3 months ago, 3 months with the anemone, polyps and shrooms, 1 month with the other corals and about the same since I plumbed in my mantis tank (as second refugium).

It has been SO much fun putting together - playing around with nano's can be a blast and this one is far from done...

cheers!

terrible..just terrible..I think you should tear it down and send it to me.

You have a great setup going there bud! Looks good, and I agree, working with nanos can be a huge blast! I am still in the process of getting a 5gal nano at work set up.

Keep up the good work! What are you doing with your shrimp? Keeping him in the sump?

the tank is what I would call a refugium, it is converted from a del ray wet/dry, here are two closer pics of the mantis area.

The 2nd pic is a may be tricky to understand: there was a hole drilled near the bottom of the wet/dry, so I had to plug it in order to use as a tank, I used a 1" bulkhead, and then added a small length of pvc on the outside and capped it. That is where the mantis made his burrow!! So I removed excess rock for better viewing of the area.

It is really quite funny, because his burrow is OUTSIDE the tank, if you can picture it.

That is a terrific setup. I am stuck with FOWLR with my 90g but would like to twink out a nano next and keep it in the office. A pristine little tank is just as enjoyable to look at as a big one.
