Testing Kits

I recently purchased my firsy Saltwater test kit named Red Sea and it seems to be giving me high readings on my nitrates and ammonia, but when I take the to the LFS they are much much lower almost zero. Is this not a good test kit? Any suggestions? I am trying to learn as possible being a newbie

I bought the Red Sea test kit in Oct. '05 and it always gave me readings that I had NH3/NH4 and NO2 . So last week i got another kit and it showed 0 for both. My LFS recommended the Red Sea kit to me but I realized it is not the 1 that they even use. I not sure but its almost gone and I'm not getting the Red Sea kit again.

Salifert is considered the best on the market at the moment. Red Sea and others have problems with indicating overly high readings, when they are not there.

Once I saw how was done testing in LFS - Quick Dip Strips, 5 tests in one. When I had such testing kit, readings (of alkalinity, at least) were quite different from Hagen Alkalinity tests, and both of them - from Seachem kit.

I am not to keen on test strips period. I have used them on my pool and get very different readings than my chemical kit.
