Starting another Nano

This one is a 3 gal Eclipse for my wife's desk. I started to buy all the sand and rock supplies from my local fish store and the (sales guys) helpful people there suggested going to the beach and get what I needed. I live near an inlet and waited for tide to come in. So we collected 3 gallons of water, about 5 lbs of sand and about 5-6 lbs of rock. An added bonus, we picked up this local minnow.

This is my wife's first nano and it was a supprise for her when I brought it home. Then we went on the beach/inlet mission.

It was a fun afternoon.

It now has some tenants. There is 1 Beau Gregory Damsel and a dozen hermits. Beau is in the archway on the left looking at the camera.

that is so neat! I'm landlocked so I couldn't do something like that even if I wanted.
I'm sorry if you already said this - what size/kind is the tank?
Good luck!

Bumping this to the top for an update.

So far the tank is going good. Several issues I ran into with this is all the nitrate, nitrite, ammonia levels were off the chart. My LFS said I should do a 100% water change and rinse the sand. Well I didnt want to go that far. I did a 50% water change once per day for 3 days. That brought everything way down.

The other issue is hot water. This is a 3g Ecplise with the built in light and filter. I got a digital thermometer for my 55 build and wanted to see what the temp was in the 3g. At the end of the day it was 86 degrees. Now that the light has been off all night, its only down to 82. The light stays on for 8 hrs durning the day. The temp in the house stays between 73 and 78.

Is 86 too warm for the tank?
