Starfish Problem

Everyday for the past week or two ive noticed my starfish getting smaller and smaller until now he has lost all his legs and only his body remains, but hes still alive. I'm wondering if it is the tank water causing the problem or if my coral banded shrimp has something to do with it. What can i do to solve this slowly dying creature.

THANKS

What kind of starfish? Many stars just slowly die in our tanks. This is why most sand sifting stars are bad tank mates. 10 gallons is a little small for most stars as well.

Well I would lean toward malnutrition, but it could also be a parameter issue.

How was he starfish acclimated? Stars in general need a very long (hours) acclimation period as they are really sensitive to salinity changes. Also, it may not have been you who acclimated it poorly, it could have been one of the suppliers along the way.

I'd say 1 hr, but he was fine for about 3-4 weeks and then one day...
