Special Rules for Nanos?

I'm just curious - are there special guidelines for nano reef aquariums? Since I'm a newbie, I have spent a lot of time reading lately - almost everything says no less than 29 gallons or 55 gallons, but then I see all these beautiful shots on here of 7g, 10g, and 20g aquariums.

How does that work? It would be fun to know, but I don't think I'm ready to start up another tank quite yet.

to keep my 2.5 healthy, i just keep up on my top-offs, and change my about once a week. simple as that.

Stable environment.

Regular and constant water changes.
