Small cube question

I'm just getting into the reef scene here and I'm starting up a 60G... but I found a nice deal on some small cube tanks.. 8-15G or so...

Do many people run skimmer-less nano's and would a freshwater carbon-based HOB filter and 10G heater work with this setup?

Could I cycle water out of the 60 into this nano cube?

I'm thinking like 1 goby and some inverts and coral? What do you guys think? And what is the shortest PC light avail?

Maybe no coral at all, maybe just a refug w/ rock and sand and cheapie lighting

Just thinking outloud, any input in appriciated.

Sounds like your just trying to setup any typical Nano tank but using a 8-15 gal cube instead of say my Minibow 7.

I Run skimmer less using a AquaClear 200 HOB and a 50 watt heater. I use a synthetic carbon in my HOB. 56 watts of PC 50/50 light. Tons of corals and no fish.

You could cycle water from the 60 into the Nano but most just run their Nano's as a seperate system even thopugh they have a big tank.

Hmm for lighting, could I do like 5 of these hung down above the tank with some sorta fixture around 5 bulbs?

bulbs:

They have a lot of bulbs there, I picked the one with the best wattage @ a decent price. $3.99/bulb. LMK what you think. Pos and Negs

The problem w/ using a non aquarium bulb is the color spectrum of the bulb.

Warm White 2700K

That will give you a lot of algae problems. It is way to yellow in color. The lowest acceptable color temp would be 6500k. I know Lowes and/or HD sells something similar in a 9 or 10 watt configuration that is 6500k you just need to read the packages really carefully

Post the length and width dimensions and we'll see what type of lighting configuration we can come up with.
