skimmer filter for a 11 gal

Does anyone have any opinions about the Red Sea Prizim skimmer...
I've been told thats the best thing to use for the size tank i have (11 gal), but I'd like a few more thoughts on it first.

Thank you.

J.

I personaly would skip the skimmer. Weekely waterchanges will help with whatever a protein stimmer would do.

Welcome Jane

I too would skip the skimmer --- just way more hassle then needed for an 11 gal tank.

I would use a 100ml pouch of SeaChem Purigen on a constant basis (a synthetic carbon of sorts). It's regenerable and is supose to remove organics simmilar to what a skimmer would. I use it on my Minibow 7 and love it.

The Purigen along with regular water cahnges should do the trick --- IMHO

ok that's helpful... Thank you.
I am still not sure what to do, I'm looking at an empty tank and pondering the many paths of filters and really dont know which is best. I've been watching a friend go through hell and high water with a 70 gal and lending a hand to help when I could, so I really want to start things off right. The tank came with an under gravel and I have heard nothing but bad things about those so I want to get a hang on filter... some one said a Penguin 125 (?) and some one else recomended the Prizim skimmer. There are two stores I frequent who both have the tank I do and at both places they use the Prizim....
Any other thoughts?

skip the Prizm, mine only pulled a weak, tea like solution out, even with the $30 upgrade kit. I've gotten much better results from my Red Sea Berlin skimmer, it's an airstone unit. Really though, just do the water changes, it's better.

I use one these on my 50..Works great. You can use it to hide your heater in the side panel and it will ad flow to your tank.

Still pretty cheap on ebay.

Only possible problem may be that they cause microbubbles sometimes in the tank. This can be fixed by getting the bubble stopper from the main company for not too much.

Water changes are still good though..

Hey..dont I know you ....
