Skilter 250 on my 10 gal

Hi i am a freshman in college and i couldnt have my old 50 gallon reef in my dorm room so i settled for a 10 its been running for about 2 months. I have 2 Super Nassarius snail that are breeding like crazy. Every time they come up from the san they are poping out more eggs. Anyway my Skilter 250 is not skimming my protien. When i look up at the top of the water from the bottom i can see the film of protien or at tleast thats what i think it is. And the protien resivwaure is not filling or bubbling. Anyone that has any advise please let me know thanks.

The skilter has a reputation for being a less than great skimmer. Do a web search for skilter modifications and improvements which can help quite a bit.

Welcome to TRT! I remember one was to put a wooden airstone in it and a air pump and not only work better but quiter!

yeah for that lil mod on the skilter, you get a wooden airstone you run it down through the cylinder so it stays on the bottom and has a continuous flow of air... like Loverotties said, it works much better. i will try and post a picture so you can get the idea better.
