Hey!

I got question , and please dont jump on me with moral side of the q. i know that fish are living creatures and they need wats best , but , lets say i buy fish that requeire 50 or 100gal minimum and ill put it in 24g aquarium......whats gonna happend exept that fish mite feel uncomfortable , is gonna get sick? is it gonna die?

Most likely yes and if it's a tang you are thinking of it will probably infect any other fish with ICH

most likely yes he will get sick or may die. He will get ICH most likely from stress and infect the other tank mates.

I agree with Kelli and look at it like this, how would you like to be locked in a 6' X 6' room? As a baby that may have seemed like a ton of room. As a toddler it is pretty small. As a child on through adulthood it would be considered either cruel and unusual punishment or imprisonment. This would cause you a lot of stress and you would most likely become ill from it. This is what putting a fish that requires a 50 gallon tank into a 24 is like.

I don't think I put anything moral in that explanation.

indeed, for the immediate time being the fish may be fine, but when large, free swimming fish are placed in cramped quarters it can lead to long term problems. This includes not only stress induced issues such as parasites and other diseases, but potentially stunted development from not being able to "flex it's muscles", for lack of a better term.
