Red Macro

To answer the question about the Macro.... It's refered to as red devils tongue. What the latin name is, I'm not sure.

my first bit of reef!

hi evryone!
here is my first attempt at a reef tank!
this is week 3 with creatures in the tank, got a scooter blennie, 2 neon gobies, couple of hermits and snails!
i am finding it so fascinating, the amount of things that are appearing on the live rock - notice something different nearly every day! got purple polyps, and loads of little bugs, and noticed last nite a new thing has appeared, two little things that look like tiny flowers, about 3mm across!
i also have shell creature, not sure which kind exactly, a bit like a cockle shell, but a different shape - anyone know whether it is likely to survive for long in a tank?

Nano Nubie

Hello folks,
New to the world of Saltwater, reefs or anything with fins! Just got this 25 gal nano. Was lucky enough to be in the store when someone was breaking down their tank and was turning in a "boat load" of mature cured rock. So I was able to get up and running relatively quickly. This tank was 2 weeks old when photo was taken. I'll take any comments or advise you have, as I am doing nothing but learning now!

Hope the photo comes out as I'm having difficulty with getting it to appear.

20 gal high would be reef tank

My 2.5 month old 20 gal tank.
Two corals only, more will follow - hardware, tests and chemicals had eaten most of the budget. Walked into "Buy the biggest tank you can afford" trap, you see.

15 Lb of Fiji and Pompeii live rock,
7 cm aragonite sand bed,
Visi-Jet protein skimmer,
150 W heater,
AquaClear 20 powerhead, sometimes with Quick Filter attachment,
Eheim Liberty 200 power filter, was AquaClear 500 (insufficient),
2x13W 6500K PC worklight plus direct sunlight for several hours,

Pink Carnation coral, Chili coral,
Blood shrimp, pincussion urchin, serpent star, turbo snail,
Red volitan lionfish, fuzzy filefish - couldn't resist, they will go to a bigger tank as they grow,
Percula clown, cleaner wrass.

Trying to find optimal mutual location for current-creating hardware (powerhead and filter), lower noise at night without depleting oxigen, and find economical and efficient filtration replacement pads.

Also set 5 gal coral only tank with 3 corals, more corals to follow.
