im just starting my Nano Cube 12 DX again, this is startup as of yesterday...
i appologize for it being so blurry, ive had my digital cam for over a year now and still cant figure out how to get good tank shots, oh well. today (4/27/06) i added about 2.5 lbs of Tonga rock... my favorite btw... this will be my foundation rock for mushrooms i will add down the road, i dont plan to have much more rock than this, im keeping this tank nice and simple for when i plan to move after i graduate from college next year, so i dont want to get too involved into the tank when i know i will have to tear it down then. thx for looking.

Thanks Skilter. We have had quite a bit of learning curves as I also have a 60g and 125g reef setups. She wanted to try one of her own so I thought this would be a good trial run. I must admit that these Nanos are really cool.

I'll tell you that I have been pleased with it so far. It is as nice as my bigger tanks right now. It has been up and running for a couple of months now and well on track. We saw one of the Red Sea Aquapods, I think you call it, and bought the whole set up for $40.00. It was only a gallon at the most and it sat on a table top and viewing was difficult. I wasn't happy with it cosmeticly and decided to use a 2.5g tank we had sitting around.
I took the small hang on filter and power compact light that came with the system and moved it to the 2.5g and bingo. I added a 1.5" approx. sand bed and a few small nice pieces of my live rock. The system ran bare for about a month and I added a snail and a feather duster and thats where she is now. I think you would really enjoy it. I believe that you can buy the hang-on filter and the PC light seperately but the whole system maybe cheaper if you already have the 2.5g tank to move it to.
Let me know if you have any more questions and I will be happy to help if I can. The system is made by Red Sea and the filter and PC light are nice for this. If you can't find it let me know and I will try and get more info for you. The whole setup should be no more than $40.00 if you already have a tank in mind to move it to.
