Remove bio balls in 12g nano cube?

I have been reading on here about ppl removing the bioballs after cycling.
Is this true, was i suppose to remove them after i cycled my tank, i have had my nano cube for 5 months and i haven't removed anything in the back of the tank. Do i need to remove the bio-balls is my question?

Only problem with bioballs is when they age, a year or more, they start producing alot of nitrates. Make sure you have 1.25-1.5 lbs/gallon of lr, also, you should have a good skimmer.

If you want to keep them---Just be sure to rinse them atleast twice a month and they should be O.K.
