Refuge for Nano?

We want to try converting the 2nd chamber of our 12 gal to a refuge with some live rock rubble and chaeto. We plan to remove the black film from the back of the nano (over the chamber) and keep a small flourescent light on it 24/7 like this guy did: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?...c=84931&st=272

Our question is, what do we do with the carbon that's in there now?

yea i put my carbon in the first chamber under the sliced up sponge
