Rebuilding....

I'm in the process of rebuilding (don't wanna talk about the crash but I had some 6" diameter 'shrooms and wall to wall polyps/ zoos) a 20 high reef. The 4" DSB and all the live rock is in place. Params are all good.

Would you start with amphipods/ brittle worms/ micro-stars etc.( Indo-Pacific) or a clean up crew consisting of scarlet hermits and various snails like nassarius , trochus, and cerinths (Live Aquaria build your own) ?

I probably won't be adding anything like 'shrooms or polyps for 6 months to a year as I'm taking my time with this setup.

Thanks

That's just the thing. My LR/LS was decimated...no life whatsoever so I'm pretty much building from the ground floor.

Thanks. As I'm the marine mod at Tom's I don't have to tell you how embarassing it is to admit that I moved a reef tank this summer and slaughtered the entire population. *sigh* Ah well, "that which does not kill you makes you stronger".

Edit: I wonder if moving the live sand did you in...

Actually it was pulling a large rock up from out of the sand.

I knew better. A moment's distraction ....

This happened in July. I scrubbed down and re-cured the LR , did a major rinse and sun dry on the sand. The tank is now cycled and ready for some life.

Ammonia...0
Nitrite.......0
Nitrate......5

Thanks. I'm trying to keep a positive view of life after feeling like one of my dogs died for the last 3 months.

I've been Windows (tm) shopping all the online sites and I've got a bad case of "New Tank Fever".
