Question regarding Pistol Shrimp

Hello all. I have a 5 g nano at work, and when I bought my live rock I inherited a bullseye pistol shrimp with it. He seems to be fine, but I am wondering as I start to put in a clean-up crew, what should I get that will not take away from his food source? He runs after flake and pellets when I feed my damsel, but I just want to be sure that I don't put things in there that will compete with him for any other food source. I am kind of partial to him/her now, so I'd like to do my best to keep it happy!Thanks in advance for any advice!

Not to rain on your parade, but I had a Pistol Shrimp once and it wasn't prety. My fish kept disapearing and I didn't know the source of the problem. Furthermore, I would hear a loud clicking noise when I turned the lights in my tank off. $200 worth of fish later I finally realized I had a Pistol Shrimp. So I took him out and I havent lost a fish since. I'm not if all Pistol Shrimps are as agressive as mine was, but I would keep a close eye on yours.

Are you sure it wasn't a mantis shrimp? They make loud clicking noises just like pistols. Mantis shrimp will eat anything and everything in a tank... I'm pretty sure that pistol shrimp are pretty peaceful.

I'm positive it was a Pistol cause he looked exactly like the picture I found in a book and the internet. I just think mine had the Charles Manson Syndrome.
