Question for all nano reefers

I am debating on changing the flow in my 12g nano. how much flow, and what type of powerhead or pump do people have in their 12g nano?

I have an Eclipse 6 and I use a maxi-jet 600 for extra flow. It's a little strong for a 6 gallon, but the 600 or 900 would probably be great for a 12.

This is the problem i am having!!!!

For some reason i am getting a film on the surface of the water. it seems like my surface skimmer is not working right. I am running the hydor flow which rotates and does agitate the water surface but that isnt helping either. I tried to lower the water level in the main tank, that still didnt work. so i dont know what is going on.

Any suggestions?

try blocking the lower part of you surface skimmer so that it has to pull from the top. Also try doing a search for the "cassette surface skimmer" mod. I have heard of people complaining about this and that seems to be the ticket.

I put on the cassette tape on my 12g and it works great!

just put it infront of the overflow and it will stay there from the suction from the pump. no need to even glue it.
