Oceanic Bio Cube!
Im about to start my first nano reef and im thinking about purchasing a 14 gallon oceanic bio cube for $170. Are these nice? Capable of supporting a beginner reef? Are there better options for similar price (+ ship) online somewhere? Is it big enough to keep a decent balance?
Thanks in advance for the help.

I have seen them and sold a few when I worked in a LFS, But we did sell more current Aqua pods then the Bio cube if that helps, I like the Current Aqua pods better

Beginner should start with the bigest they can aford.Smaller tanks are hard to keep the water perimeters right then the bigger tanks.

well i think this may be the biggest i can afford. Can these keep some types of Anemones? Im thinking of buying base rock and then some live rock to seed, but how long does that usually take?

Here is a link to my build thread with an BC29. I have done several mods to the setup, including the addition of a protein skimmer and upgrades of the stock lighting. The BC build starts about halfway through the thread.

So today I decided to go for it and bought the bio cube and 16lbs of live rock.

Sorry for the qaulity. All I had to use was a webcam
The rock is really good stuff. Very colorful full all sorts of bits of little corals and other life. The salesman at the LFS said it was the first time they had ordered rock from this supplier and now it will be the only place they will order from because of its quality.
The pics dont do it justice but I just wanted to share. The bio cube seems great but i think ill add a powerhead to get the water moving a little more. Any suggestions?
Also should i point the stock outlet up to break surface tension or down to create more flow around the rock?

look at my tank thread for some easy mods... if you have any questions, just ask... its a great little aquarium but really make sure you study up on things and pay attention to your water quality because in smaller aquariums things can happen fast!
