Question

New thoughts on my 20g, +DIY chiller ??'s

After coming from reading a bunch of books on reef keeping for large tanks, I find this forum and have had to rethink my tanks setup. I was wondering if I could get some pointers on my planned setup

20 gal high
110 PC in custom hood
Rio 1700 return pump
10 gal sump (about half filled)
heater
a few well placed small circulation pumps
30+ pounds live rock
about 2" live sand
6 line Wrasse
few small shrimp
standard clean up crew

I wanna try and keep it simple, so no skimmer unless its really necessary, and hopefully it wont be with a light BIO load. My next guestion, will one of those little cubic foot fridges keep my tank cool by around 5 degrees? You know, run a 1/4 " line off the main over flow line and coil about 20 feet in the fridge and out to the sump? If i'm missing anything, let me know

Scratch the above listed setup, I did some Googlin' last night and may have found an easier way to set it up(and cheaper)!! Still need to know about the cooling capaceties for those fridges (mabey a Think Tank post would do me better).

I have done both a small fridge and a small freezer. The fridge will work for 5 degrees or so.

Put a large bucket of water in the fridge and coil the line in that water. The fridge will do a better job at keeping the bucket of water cool and that in turn will do a better job at heat exchanging. SO did any of that make sense.

It does work but sort of bulky --- of course with the right fridge you could always use it as the stand and maybe get the wife/girlfriend to pick out some nice table cloth type thing to drape over it.

Made plenty of sense And I like that bigger fridge idea, should leave me room enough for a 6 pack next to the bucket
