New Aquapod build
Hello, its been a while, been very busy, and fighting cyano in my other tank for the last month or 2. I am finally getting some of my time back so here I go with a new build.
Thanks to MarineScape I finally got a tank to replace my little 8.8g nano.
I picked up a 24g Aquapod at MarineScape when I went in to get something else for my other tank. At the price they were selling it, I could not resist and grabbed it. In this thread, I will post its progress up until it is fully stocked. So far, my 2 Darwins, YWG, and some LR out of my other tank will be going into it. Also, I picked up a 22lb bag of Seachem grey natural calcite at PetSmart for $7.99! .. cannot beat that. I plan to have this tank up and running and stocked within the next 2 weeks.
Lighting Specs:
1x32w SunPaq Dual Daylight & 1x32w SunPaq Dual Actinic
2 Nocturnal Blue LEDs
Well here is the first and only pic so far, more to follow ..

So today I rinsed the calcite, its now in a container and ready to go into the tank. I still have to clear the spot where this tank is going to go before I put the substrate in it. I plan to do that tomorrow.

I also wiped down the tank with vineger/water soloution and removed all media. I found this odd, but there was a total of 5 bio-balls in this tank ... whats the point of 5? haha. There was also some ceramic things in a bag and some blue sponge, i have removed it all. I will be putting the heater back there.

Ever thought about a pistol shrimp to keep your YWG company?

Thanks Loverotties. Mizer, I tried a pistol with him yes, and it attacked him, ripped off his tail and if I didnt pull him out right when I did, he would be dead. I dont think I will try that again, although I would love another pistol/goby combo.

water in!
a few rocks in. its aquascaped now with more rocks than in this pic, but lights are out, will have pics tomorrow.
also added a MJ900 for more flow. I tried replacing the stock pump with a MJ1200, but the difference was so minimal it was a waste of a 1200, so I put the stock pump back in.

Seems to be coming along nicely. What stock pump does it come with that the MJ1200 was not performing better for you? I don't have one of these tanks, but am curious about them.

Thank you .. the stock pump is 290GPH. The MJ1200 is 295. Hardly a noticible difference. Don't get me wrong, there was a difference, just not enough to waste the MJ1200 on it.

I grabbed a quick pic of what it looks like now. This is the basic layout I will keep in the tank. I will just move the little rocks here and there, but this is the basic idea. There is one big fuzzy mushroom in there and some zoas, both were doing great all day!

Okay, so that is a 24 gallon with 290gph return pump which sounds good to me. What about the lighting, is it PC or T5 and how many watts?

Tested the water today and ...
Acclimation..

Entering new home ..

Happy at home ..

Goby darted strait into the rockwork as usual, so I have not seen him yet or where his new hideout is.
