just wanting to know what you all think

10 gl glass tank
whisper 10 power filter rated at 5-10 gl
profile 2900 air pump (just for a few hours a day more oxygen)
lights-two 15w thinking of buying two 25w
crushed coral for bed
few peices of old dead LR from my old tank (back a few years)

this is the fourth day of cycling and i put two blue damsles in there to help speed it up. I all so put a night light over it to help with the light problem (75w)
nitrite 0.1
ph-8.2
temp-78F
salinity 1.022
will be buying live rock soon
just wanted to see what you all had to say about it and what i should do.

First, Welcome to TheReefTank!

Second, Where in MN are you? We have a very active club in the Twin Cities, check out the TCMAS forum here on TRT.

Third, Get rid of the crushed coral. Go either sand or bare bottom. I have some sand if you need it.

Fourth, not too sure about the air pumps.

Fifth, What is the end plan? Reef? Fish only with Live Rock?

Sixth, Wecome again!!!!

Some people think crushed coral/gravel will trap nitrates, others dissagree. I would think it would be OK if your plan is just a couple of clowns and 10 lbs of LR. Do a search here for "crushed coral" or "cc" and see all the views. As for the price of the sand, if you ever make it down south to the TC's I can set you up with sand, not live, but once was! I do not think you need to start with live sand in that size setup. You might want to check your local Home Depot (if you have one nearby) for "Southdown Play Sand". Just my $.002, sand looks much nicer!
