Question

NC 12 Pump and Heat Question.

i decided about a week ago to start up my NC 12 DX again, but i could not find my pump. so i decided to use a RIO 200 (i know people here despise these, but i have never had a problem since i started this hobby 5 yrs ago) but little did i take into account the added watt. would boost my temp. usually this time of year my tank runs around 78-80' but its running currently at 84.4 with the feeding door fully open and a fan running across the top.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a pump that will or is proven to run cooler besides the stock pump???

any advice is extreamly helpful (besides saying trash the rio, not to worry, its going bye bye soon)

Thankyou for reading

well incase anyone might be following this, im going to put the stock pump back in as soon as it arrives from nanocustoms... then i'll wait and see if its a big difference, if so i'll post an update, just so everyone has a heads up about RIO's.

Cool Thanks for letting us know I've thought about upgrading the stock pump on my 24 so I'll be interested if the heat issues go away with the new pump

just put in the stock pump earlier today, checked on the temp a few times today and noticed the temp was much cooler than it was at the same time the day before... by 2 degrees. granted the rio was 12watts and the stock pump is 8watts... but this does give you some kind of idea.

Try the "mini-jet" from "maxi-jet" company.
They are more powerful, run cooler and have a better reputation.

You can just use the pipe from the stock pump to connect it up.
