Nanocustoms.com or stock to start with.......need some input

Hiya all............just me again.

Well, I have purchased one tank this week, and this one is more than anything going to be an experiment in my workmanship. Hopefully my wiring skills dont burn the house down. 15 gallons, and I'll post as it progresses, failures and success alike.

More to the point, I am still looking for a complested 12 gallon Nano, and here in lies my dilemma. My initall plans ar to house LR of course, along with softies, and possibly LPS, perhaps an anemone and some of the smaller clowns. Not to sure about the latter just yet as 12 might be a bit small for them.

In any event here is my dilemma.

I have talked with Chris over at nanocustoms, and he has been great! I am giving considertion to the 3.24 12DX which can be upgraded at a later time should I desire. But in the same breath, I can also snag a 12 dx, stock, for around 130.00 bucks. Now with 48 watts of light, I am unsure if it will support the life in the tank adequatley. I also realize the upgrades on the nanocustoms are significant and not just limited to the light.

So I am looking for opinions on the lighting on the stock tank, and frankly whether the additional cost is really something thats money well spent. Sorry to be a pain, and thanks for the advice everyone!

There's a reason why they make those mods...people building reef tanks found the stock cube lacking. I second rotties.

I am able to keep (so far) everything you listed in a stock 24g nanocube with no modifications at all.

I enjoyed researching lights, filtration, and the process of setting up my whole tank. Buying something out of the box would take a little of the do it yourself fun out of the experience for me. Setting everything up yourself is also a great way to learn all the necessary information to be successful in the hobby.
