Nanocube or BioCube

We are going to buy a Nano for the wifes office . Needs to be as maint free as possible and compact.

The top two we are looking at are the ...

6g Nanocube of JBJ

Pros:
Size, Lunar lights

Cons:
only 1 light bulb, style on the hood

8 Gallon Bio Cube Nano Reef Aquarium by Oceanic

Pros :

Dual Lights , Lunar , 2 gallons more / more stable , Overall style

Cons:
5o bucks more , Slighting larger size overall

Any input greatly appericated.

I'd go for the 8 gallon Oceanic fo a couple reasons.

A) I've currenlty got a 3 gallon tank and its really emphasized the restrictiveness of a smaller tank. Even if by only 2 gallons, the bigger the tank the more elbow room you'll have in many ways.

B) I used to have a 90 gallon Oceanic corner tank and there really wasn't a bad thing about it. I can't say anything good or bad about the JBJ since I have no experience with it but Oceanic will certainly get my business again in the future.

6g does seem kinda small. Being in the office, it seems like it wouldnt necessarily get the care/attention like it would at home. Water changes have to be done more frequently in a smaller tank, and smaller tanks are less stable. I think the 2 extra gallons would help. Theres also a 12g nano, It doesnt look like it takes up too much space, and I think th at 4-6 gallons would really make a big difference.

Well after continued research the 8 and the 6 are the EXACT same size !! Bonus there and the 8 is actually 8.9 gallons.

The biocube 8 has a print of 12.4"x11.46"
Biocube 14 has a print of 14.96"x15.49 which puts it over the limit for the area stand it is going on

Off to the JBJ 6 and 12.....

Although going up to the 12g JBJ you get the dual lighting you also get the footprint of the O. biocube 14gallon so that is out.

Both of you hit on what I was thinking about more room and more stability. Both come with 18w but the 8 Gallon Includes: 1-18 Watt 10k and 1-18 Watt Actinic. 4.5 Watts per Gallon compared to 3 watts. I am used to running 7.71 watts of lighting on my display tank :P

She is already aware of the weekly water change which I can just repare her a gallon jug off of mine when i prepare my WC water.

This is really looking like a one sided battle here the more research i do.

Hmmm another point i am thinking.

The biocube has a filter intake on the bottom of the back wall AND also the top.

The JBJ only has one on the top.
