Question

Nano upgrade...may not be a nano anymore!

So...I'm adding a 20 L sump/refugium to my 15 gallon reef...does that make it a nano still? I want to be a nano reefer still...

I just bought my overflow and sump..I'm upgrading on friday! ! !

It's still a 15 gallon reef, so I'd say yes. Seems to me that it's still a nano.

Yea still a Nano --- Sumps don't generally count unless of course you had a 55 gal sump and a 10 gal tank --- then we might have to boot you from the Nano status.

But a 20L sump on a 15 gal seems fine to me.

I got the sump hooked up, and it works great! I now don't need a powerhead anymore, as the sump return gives a lot of flow to the tank!

Yea I basically hate powerheads. There is always a better way --- it usually just costs more money.

Good deal on the sump working. Just remember that everytime you mess with the plumbing (even a little) do a power off check just to make sure nothing overflows and everything starts up fine when power goes back on. Sometimes the littlest change that you wouldn't think could effect things makes a huge difference and sometimes a huge mistake on your floor. (obviously spoken from experience --- LOL)

yeah speaking of messes i remember having one about a yr. ago... it was a slow drip on my skilter the rubber ring was worn but i thought i could just use some good ol' cauk and fix it for the time being while it was running (i had to run to my psych class) so to make a long story short... the slow drip came back strarted to drip on my surg suppressor and started a fire! oh yeah lovely life lessons to learn... luckily i caught it in time and the only dammage was a burned up surge suppressor...

thought i would share that w/ all of you... maybe it doesnt fit this thread but then again its 2am... haha

well, I had nearly the same thing happen (fire with a surge suppressor) because of an anemone that ventured too far into my U-tube on my overflow...pump pumped back into tank, but not into sump! ! ! Well, needless to say...messy
