Nano SIG --- DIY Moonlighting Workshop

The ARC Nano SIG has a special workshop planned for our Nov. meeting. We will be makeing and installing moonlighting in our Nano canopies/hoods.

The meeting is scheduled for Sunday Nov. 23rd at 12:00 noon. The location is at Rick's house and if I remember correctly he lives somewhere in Cobb County.

I don't have all the exact details worked out yet but hopefully I can get it arranged this week or the next.

This will be a three part workshop.

Part 1: A short lecture on everything I know about LED's and wiring them up (should be short cause I don't know much )

Part 2: A quick demonstration on soldering techniques and wiring up moonlighting. Will either bring in my hood and do it again or use my sons 2.5 Minibow.

Part 3: A hands on workshop building and installing DIY moonlighting into YOUR Nano canopy/hood.

For those wishing to participate in the hands on part you will need to pre pay for parts (so we can group purchase and everyone will have the same thing to make the workshop easier) and bring your canopy/hood to the meeting. I am working with a large LED company to get better LED's for cheaper than can be gotten at Radio Shack. As soon as I work out all the details I will post them.

We have another surprise or two worked out for the Nov. meeting so it is definatly a meeting you won't want to miss. Of course all the Nano SIG meetings are definatly a meeting you don't want to miss

Excellent. Hopefully I'll make this one. I can bring some solder/irons if it'll help. May have some flux around here too.

Sorry William no meeting in Dec. After the Nov the next one will be Jan. Also the next weekedn is Thanksgiving weekend and we purposely didn't want it to be on that weekend.

Quacker --- we will need a few tools such as what you mentioned along with a few hair dryers. After I get it all together I'll let everyone know and I'll also ask for volunteers to bring in some equipment. Remind me then about what you have as I'll have to get enough equipment together depending on how many are going to participate in the hands on.

Yea, I know the next weekend is thanksgiving, and most people will be out of town...oh well!

The regular club going to have a get together, since there isnt a meeting planned? I remember some talk about that in August.

Yea you could install it into a 2 gal hex - would only need a 1 LED system --- no problem there. We are going to custom make and install these so any size tank will work.

I haven't finished with all the details. As soon as I do I'll post the price and where to send a check. This is going to be just me collecting everyones money and makeing a group purchase before the meeting. If we have alot of people doing the hands on part (which I think we will) I will probably make up some sub assemblies ahead of time so the meeting goes smoothly.

I'll let everyone know some more details soon --- hopefully by the end of the week.
