Nano Cube Price
Anybody here know what used Nano Cubes are going for these days? I just wanted to get an idea...I had what I thought to be an ok offer. $50 for the nano cube w/0 light (I am going to retrofit my PC lights into it). I thought maybe $50 in the original shape that it came in (completely stock) ...but I didn't know if people had bought any used ones before. I know they're popular, so I didn't think that many people sold them.
Thanks,
Jeepjon

the lights are the exspencive part, i would would try to go lower than that, i mean thats not too bad, but theres a guy in the atlanta forum selling a 12gallon nano with live rock corals, sand, and everything for 75.. 40 sounds like a better deal, heck even 30 since theres no lights...

the delux is currently 169.99
The Fan cooled is 99.99
The 6g is 59.99
A replacement ballast will run about 3 to 10 bucks tops as long as the bulbs are good. PM me for more info on the replacement ballast.

The fan cooled is what I might be buying...and for members of "the other reef board", there is a $10 discount..so around $89 plus shipping...SO...I didn't think $50 was that good of a price considering there are no lights. I have lights to retrofit in, but money is tight lately, and I didn't want to overpay. I just didn't know if that was too much money for the nanocube with no light.

Nanocube ballast 12 gal
I'd like to know where you found ballasts so cheap for the 12 gal Nanocube? I have had to replace mine when I first bought the tank ($49.99 + shpg) because it was a display and the ballast went out after a few months of use at the store...Now after less than a year I am having again to replace my ballast. This is getting ridiculous...I e-mailed the JBJ Nanocube co. of my dissatisfaction...Nothing worse than I am writing here and they blocked my e-mail addy, plus they never wrote back...That is extremely poor business practice. I tried to call and their number is also temporarily out of service...Must be getting a lot of calls. Don't get me wrong, I love my nanocube when it is working...It has the most crystal clear water I've seen in an aquarium. And it stays that way as long as my african cichlids don't eat the placos and other algea eaters I keep having to put in.

darthteddy,
My ballast (from the 24 gal JBJ nano - 2 x 36w) has stopped working. Can you post (or PM) me the details on the ballast fix you mention?
Thanks in advance
Tom

Can you please send me the details to replace the ballast? Both of my lights just stopped working. Sometimes when I un-plug and then plug back in, I get a little flicker. I have a 24g Nano and the black box that contains the ballast says 36W on it. How long do I have until the corals and other items start to die?

Ballast Fix
Does anyone know how to fix a 24g Nano Deluxe Ballast without paying the big bucks to order a new one?

I gave mine away. FWI I called current and the ballast for the origional nano cube was 24.99 plus shipping. I ended up upgrading instead of fixing the ballast. The ballast for the dx version is probably more. Personally I would get a mh pendant instead of replacing the dx ballast. $30 is what I would be willing to pay for the tank only. I would only go $50 if there were no scratches at all or if the pump had been replaced.
