Here's just one of the things that keep me from taking decent tank shots. In constructing the rockwork around the overflow I used brightly colored cable ties (because that's all I had at the time) which are really distracting to tank shots. While I've used rubble over them and glued zoanthids to them, they are still distracting. Growth is finally covering them over. Odd that coralline doesn't seem to grow on them like I thought it would, as the bottom of the tank is developing quite a population of pink and purple.
The other problem is the white balance on my camera. I'm using a 175W XM 15000K bulb which isn't as cool as I thought it would be, colors look kinda washed out under it and the camera can't seem to compensate. Closeups I use the camera flash, that helps, but for tank shots I try and use tank light which ends up looking too blue, as noted on the two tank shots above.

I don't know what it is; but I love that tank, it's very appealing.

Why thanks guys, but uhhhh, the nano would look a lot better if I'd put the doors on it. They are sitting in the garage waiting for the stain.......
i'm just tickled I've got some good growth going on it. It'll look really cool in a few months!

I like that set-up Roger; the tank looks great! How are the mangroves doing?

Out of three, one died, not sure why. I'm replacing it with another, I've got a bunch.

Though the contest is over, the nano grows on!
I was in Pensacola one day and Atlanta the next. Couldn't resist these additions, the T. peltata from Aquaria in Pensacola (Thanks David!)
And at long last I found an Acan that I could afford (or maybe I just was weak that day) from Cappucinno Bay Aquarium in Atlanta

This one will feature Darby, the yellowtail damsel. He's pissed that I didn't use him in the nano Buildoff. "He coulda been a contender", he claims. Methinks he snorted too much ammonia when he cycled my very first reef tank.
