My old Nano stand & canopy

Back in 1990 - 1991 time frame I was able to acquire a totally awesome Stand and Canopy for a Nano tank. It fit either a 10 gal or a 15 tall. It was made from solid oak but needed some work. I hand stripped the entire thing then put on a nice cherry finish and some original shellac to make a nice semi-gloss finish.

Over the next few years I had three different setups using it. A 10 gal reef, then a 10 gal temperate reef and lastly a 15 tall reef. Eventually when I moved to Georgia I sold it to my brother for dirt cheap. I have kicked myself in the butt ever since.

This weekend we had a small family reunion over my house and I was able to get this back from my brother. I will never let this go from my sight again. I plan on drilling a 10 gal, using a 96watt quad and transferring my Minibow 7 livestock over to it. It has a 10 gal sized wet-dry for a sump (fits in stand underneath) which I plan on removing the bio-balls from. Anyway this will take a little while to get together but though you would like to see a pic of the stand/canopy.

In the pic is the old 15 tall which will get replaced with a 10. My 4 year old son is in the pic for size comparison. With the 15 tall it stands 41" from floor to top of canopy. I am very excited about this cause I have been waiting a long time to get this stand/canopy combo back.

Well he's already got a 2.5 MB with a few corals in it. Also he's really hopeing to win the Minibow 7 door prize at tomorrows meeting.

I will probably sell the MB7 after I get everything transfered but not positive on that.

Yes that is what I did in the past. I am not going to use them for the new setup. Will have a SSB (Shallow Sand Bed) and probably use a SCWD for alternating current with some type of top of tank spray bar.

Haven't fully decided yet but I'm working on it.

LOL --- Yup same kid even same shoes for that matter.

Fortunatly there were other kids about otherwise he would have wanted to get up in front of everyone and talk to you all --- especially when there is a microphone about. He is definatly not shy.

He's tried talking me into giving him that setup --- I might consider giving him my old Minibow once everything is transfered but he's not getting the oak stand/canopy.
