My new 10 gal nano
Hi all
I'm just started to build my new 10 gal nano and I would like to share it and get some help for more experienced people since this is my first nano.
I had a 100gal before back in Brazil but I had to turn it down when I moved to US. Now with a limited space (and budget) I decided to start this nano. I'll post some pictures soon.

The water won't make the cycle any shorter. The cycle is related to the growth of the beneficial bacteria on your live rock.

I thought of put in here some specs from my nano.
- All glass 10Gal tank
- Aquaclear powerhead 20 (127 gph)
- 10lb Dolomite
- 5 lb fine marine sand
- 20w 50/50 coralife bulbs x2 (I know ... need a better one)
- Some fiji LRs and some florida caribenan
- 1 Aqueon 10 power filter (for solids)
- 1 Aquaclear 20 power filter (mech, bio, carbon etc.)
Please critique!

I actually think you could skip the Aqueon power filter, your live rock will do the filtration. I use the aquaclear on my 10 gl for circulation and I run carbon in it, all the filtration is from the rock in the tank and weekly water changes. Otherwise, it sounds good, I'm looking forward to the pictures! - Has the tank cycled yet? What are you thining of putting in it (help get your post count up)

Thanks again scoop for your post!
I think I'll do that. Right now it's only making noise. I believe I still have time to return it to the LFS. Yesterday I tested the water levels and I still have POh a little high but I think it's because I don't have any livestock to produce waste so the bacterias can boost. So I added a peppermint shrimp and a green crab(don't know which one, it came with the LR). The guy at the LFS told me to feed then with raw shrimp and take it out after a hour.
I just order my light fixture. It's a coralife aqualight 2x40w. I was afraid to use metal halide because of the heat, so after some research i figure out that was the best option without spend much money and it also come with the lunar light.

Sorry I forgot some answers!
Abut the cycle I believe it's not fully cycled yet since some Po levels are still 0.5. But since I'll be out of town for a week. I've decided leave it for two more weeks before add any fish/coral. Here are my plans:
Fish
2 true perculas (already pre-ordered from my LFS)
1 bi-color dottyback or 1 firefish (haven't decided yet)
1 watchman goby (not sure.. don't want to overstock)
Inverts
Xenia
Frog bubble
green carpet anemone (still thinking about)
Red/blue mushrooms
Any suggestions?

The carpet might get too big for a 10, I've seen some over 12" across! I only keep 2 fish (pair of Onyx clowns) in my 10, but I think 3 fish would be OK, 4 might be too much. Mushrooms, Xenia sound great, I have them both in my 10. You could also look at candy cane, frogspawn/torch/hammer, also zoa's. My 10 gl is being taken over by the xenia, it can reallly grow! It's pretty, but it limits what elseI can add in the tank.

Also, my clowns host in the frogspawn. The guy I bought them from, Rod Buehler, suggested the frogspawn and is worked great for the last yr. .

Candy cane, frogspawn . . . Like the idea, thanks!
I'll problably stick with the clowns and leave room for one more if I can help myself on buying one more fish later .
Can wait to post some pictures here . . . it makes the thread more fun.

Also for a little more yellow you can add a clown goby extremely small and cool! For corals i recommend No Xenia cool coral but they grow insane(mine grow on my lr and tank glass). I say some bright actinic mushrooms(may red blue or green) will look nice. I say zoas will be a must personally. Also regarding posting pics you can use the attachment feature which will allow you to post some pics.
