My nano-reef

Ok I have finally started my tank and my setup goes as follows.

Tank: 18g high (20"x10"x20")
Fuge: Modded AC500
Lighting: Coralife Lunar 2x65 PC fixture
Zoomed 160gph PH
20# LR
18# LS
10# Base Rock
150W Heater

I am still in my cycling stages so nothing too neat yet but will post more pics once I get some livestock. As far as what I am planning to keep in the tank will be mostly softies, a few LPS, maybe a SPS, couple percula's, and (this part is still up in the air) I may get a lower lighting clam like a squamosa.

Any thoughts, concerns, or general feedback on my setup would be greatly appreciated as I am a newb and can use all the help I can get.

Oh I forgot to mention that the fuge and lights are still in the mail so you won't see them in the pic unfortunately. Sorry about that.

nice arrangement of rock...get some corals in there! ! ! Also...you may want to put a background in, it will change the look of the tank until you get some corraline growing.

Ok will do. I'm going to probably just but a black background on it. I agree it will definitely enhance the look. My coraline is looking pretty bad right now (bleached) but I just barely got the lights so it should turn around soon. Here is a before the lights and after pic of my tank.

The tank aquascape really looks good, I like the tall tank...I wasn't sure about those tall tanks, but it looks pretty good! Hope your cycling goes well and you get some good corals!

Thanks I was a little leary of the tall tank too. I don't have much open sand (except in that cave on the right) since its so narrow but the pieces of rock I got seemed to mesh together pretty well with lots of spaces and caves etc. I'm pretty pleased so far.

Well I got my first coral (little green striped shroom). I also got some bubble algae and aiptasia (oh yay). SO I got an emerald crab and a peppermint shrimp. Then my crab eats my shrimp within 1/2 a day. I was at work and my gf said she watched the crab attack and then devour the shrimp. I really liked the shrimp so maybe I'll try my luck with another one. Anyone had an experience like this.

Update

Well here is my updated tank... its actually not totally updated cause now I have a branching hammer coral (pink tipped) and a red mushroom. Haven't taken any since adding those but I did take everyones suggestion of a black background and added one. So here ya are. Tell me what you think now.

And the link just in case the pic doesn't work.
