moon/lunar lights

I have a 20 gal long im thinking about a diy moon lighting, I have some good plans for it. How important is it to have a "24 hour" light cycle.Will it enhance my corals I have purple and pink xenia,zoos,anemone,or ruin my tank by promoting algea growth,encrusted georgonian I have a nova extreme running during the day and Im thinking about the moon lights at night is this a good or bad idea

Some say it helps coral spawn,some say it's a waste.I like the lights.

It's neither good nor bad, there's no benefit to the corals (especially if you're not simulating a lunar cycle with the lights), but it's aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. I've got a setup that I like.
