Matt's 10 Gallon Nano Build
Well I have decided to go ahead and start setting up the tank. The tank is a 10 gallon Aqueon glass aquarium. Right now the plan is to set up the tank with a Fluval Plus 1, a Marineland 50W heater, and I am also going to put in about 10 pounds of sugar sized reef sand. Then later I am going to put in about 1 or 2 pounds of live sand. Then I want to get everything set up and running good then I am going to get 2 Purple Firefish and a Fire Shrimp as well as a few hermits and snails. I hope to keep mostly softies like mushrooms, zoanthids, yellow polyps, and some GSP. So I will set up the tank tonight because I can't stand to wait any longer. I'll get some pics up in a little bit.

Well here are some quick pics from tonight. I have to head up to the LFS tomorrow and get some more salt. I always run out of salt when I set up a new tank.
Here is the tank empty.
And then with the sand I'm using.
A closer pic of the sand.
And then here it is filled up.
So hopefully the LFS is open tomorrow so I can get some salt. Anyway that's how she looks tonight. Oh and I know the "stand" it's on is small. I just wanted to fill it up tonight. I'll drain most of the water and then move it sometime this week.

Make sure you get some nice LR and it comes from a good LFS. I thought at first my LR was good then i got all kinds of nasty little critters i ended up getting out at first. But in the end it looks great. Also if it were me in my 10 gallon i have a ton of sand, i would add more if i were you. I have 40 lbs total in my 10 gallon. 2 bags of the LS from the LFS. Because i know i wasnt going to run a skimmer and i may slack a week on a WC. I get WC's done on my tank weekend because no skimmer. But if i miss a week i am not to much trouble.
Now 40 lbs is a bit overboard for a 10 gallon so i wouldnt say you need that much LOL but i would add around 2.5-3" sand bed if it were me.
Keep up the good work and show us tons more pics!

I don't know, I saw your tank. It looks pretty good. If it turns out as good as your I'll be happy. Oh and yeah I'm probably going to add some LS in a couple of days.

Okay. Sadly (or gladly) the build will be postponed for a little while. I can't find a stand for the tank and I'd really like to have the tank on a stand so that I don't have move it when it has a bunch of stuff in it. So, this weekend while I was in Wichita I picked up a 12 gallon nano cube for $50 so I put all the sand and water in that. Hopefully I can get a stand this coming Saturday. I'll keep you guys informed.

Hey, I have a 10g tank, the one that you normally buy in the LFS. I was looking for the perfect piece of furniture to put this on, but then I found an all pine stand at pet supermarket. I do not have a picture of the stand but this is what it could be the one the Perfecto makes and looks like. BTW it was only like $50 but better built then alot of the more expensive press board stands.

Cool. I'll have to look into that. I need to set up the nano because I already have the two fish inhabitants.
By the way I have a Siberian Husky too. Her name is Jane and she's 8 months old now. This is her first winter so I'm really excited. How old is your dog? Here's a picture of her playing in some snow. We're getting snow right now so there is no doubt what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Nice inhabitants, they look like purples. I swear purples are just as pretty as Helfrichis.
My Siberian's name is Tika. He is about 5 years old. We got him from the Humane Society when he was repoted to be about one year old. Like a lot in his breed, he is a confirmed runner, so I would never be able to let him off the leash in a field like that. He is a good dog, and the training I had to do with him was minimal so I really do not have confidence that I would be able to offleash train him by myself properly. I was thinking of taking him to classes, but I should have thought about that before we had the baby. We do take him on daily long walks and I jog with him. He loves the dog park where he can run free. Growing up in South Florida, the closest thing Tika has gotten to snow is ice cubes in his water bowl....
