Maroon clowns in a nano?

Although it's not reeeallly recomended, I was wondering if anyone out there either keeps or has any thoughts on a mated pair of Yellow stripe marrons in a 12 gallon tank? I am a bit ambivolent about doing this, but they would be the only fish in the tank. along with a fairly small anemone.

If and when they go into it, it will be a 15 gallon acrylic, with a 70 watt MH, and in that instance there may or may not be a sump, but there will probably be a skimmer running off the back side.

Most likley it will be a nanocustoms 12 gallon tank, so the surface skimmer will have been modified.

In either instance, yea plenty of live rock,2" sand bed and eventually some lps and possibly sps depending on lighting

Maroons tend to get pretty large. 12g might be kinda cramped.

We've kept a pair in a 30g tank, and that was pretty cramped, as the female grew rapidly. There were lots of other fish in the tank, but the other fish werent the problem, the sheer size of the female GSM (even though obtained as a small fish) was a bit much.
Im usually known for pushing the limits of fish to water ratio, but i dont think id put a pair of GSM in a 12g.

That was kind of my thinking as well. I have a pair in my 40, and they do just fine, and were in my 28 before that and had no issues, but 12 for a pair seems like pushing it a bit. He's a little dude..but shes close to three inches now.

well everyone has their own experiences, all the Maroons I have ever worked with get huge, and personally I think a pair would be better suited to a 40 gallon aquarium, 12 is just two cramped for 1 let alone 2

Via my earlier post, I figured it would be a bit to cramped.

It can be done, yes the female will get real big but you got plent of time before she gets to big.

Only thing is dont expect to have any other fish in there.

I had a maroon in my 10g for a year and she killed every single fish i put in there.(3 cherub angles, yellow watchman, flame tail goby, red head goby, and a 6 line)

Needless to day she went by by when i upgraded
