ive never had a problem with...

ive never had a problem with never being able to recieve replies to my posts untill now...

so here's one more chance to all of you, before i go postal and start pulling my hair and forget this site for awhile, someone please reply, i mean... i reply to posts alot... please be so kind to take the time and reply this one, i dont care if u just say "bump."

i posted this on nano-reef, and got no replies...

how soon after tank start-up should i start seeing a brown algae bloom?

its even started to appear on the glass as of yesterday.

Tank started its first day of cycle last week April 27th. i first started seeing a major brown algae bloom 2 days ago. Ive never had it to the extent this fast before.

currently i have a NanoCube 12 with a Rio 200 (i suspect the wattage is too high producing too much heat/i will replace it soon w/ the stock pump), hydor flow, stock lighting, upgraded fans... 10lbs ls, 8lbs lr (figi/tonga) im seeing alot of pods running around also... all in just a week!

i did see a spike in temp last sunday at 86', i quickly got that under control tho, now it is constant at 81' this could have been the reason for the spike, but i have been out of the hobby for awhile now, what will this lead to?

thankyou for your time.

also, I can't help cuz I'm new to this, tank is only 5 weeks old but when my tank cycled a couple weeks ago there was very little brown, now there is quite abit along the cc, and green on the glass that I clean off, maybe I shouldn't clean it off, I don't even know, just way too new to this

It's normal to have the algea bloom.once it cycles do your water changes to get your nitrate down, which that and phospate is the food for it to grow. And the computer part to your question is try cleanning out your cookies.

On my tank, I had brown algae everywhere w/in two weeks of starting to cycle. How fast it appears depends on how hight the nutrient level in your tank is.

My nano tank had a brown algae bloom like nothing I ever saw in my large tank, I am not sure why but maybe the small size exaggerated the bloom?

It went away after a week or two, no worries.

Brown algae is a perfectly normal part of the cycling process. Wait until the brown turns green, do a 50% water change and then add your cleanup-crew. The snails make pretty short work of algae on the glass and rocks. If it's too much you can use a grocery store Club Card or the like to scrape it off.

Patience is the key. Nothing good happens fast...
