Hostile Damsels

Well... I'm now down to two three-black and white striped damsels (Dumb and Dumber) and an emerald crab (Neptune), along with the hermits and snails.

My damsles have been picking on my pms (peppermint shrimp) for the last few weeks. I woke up today and Bloody (the pms) was lying on the bottom of the tank being eaten by the emerald crab.

RIP... Bloody

I didn't know that the damsels would be that aggresive/hostile. I know that they didn't do it because they were hungry - I've been feeding them a small amount of food everyday. Why would they do this to the ppms?

I know that I need to get rid of them. This isn't going to be easy in a nine gallon tank. I'll have to take the entire tank apart to get them out... not fun.

(Pastina, Now Bloody and Spot are in the big fish tank in the sky with your lawnmower blenny.)

Damsels are very hostile fish. I would only get a damsel if i had a tank with a lot of big fish in it. I think they just like to push other fish around. I have a yellow damsel in my 38 gal. I would love to get him out but he is to fast. He does not give any of my fish a hard time or the crabs. So for now he stays in.

black and white damsels are nice lookin fish
just go with the flow there not too bad. i had a damsel mix back in the day, they fought sometimes but nothing too serious, nothing compared to my fw cichlids.
shrimp are so easy to pick at. my clownfish poke at the peppermint shrimp luckily not enough to kill him tho...at least not yet
they sell fish traps you can try one of those or quietly wait with a net and feed them then scoop them up...i know thats easier said than done tho hehe
