Ok, so it does work then, how large is your pipe, and what size is the cut?
Will it work with just one end draining?

No more ideas? Do I need to use baffles in the sump?? Do I have to have seperate chambers in the sump for the skimmer and return pump? I know some people run without a skimmer or a sump.

I used 1" pipe and i don't really know what size the cut is i just know that when FLYGUY made his he used 90% elbows from the back of the tank straight up and then 90% elbows to the cut pipe. i used 45% to the cut pipe. i just made the cut pipe to fill the gap between the 45% pipes.

Oh not glued

to make the cut pipe adjustable.

And i don't really know if one hole will work. In my setup I have a mag 7 running and I have a ball valve restricting the flow back a little bit. The reason is more for sound than flow.

Change of plans....

Ok, scrapped the idea of using the 10g I drilled for my main tank, going to be using my 24g aquapod w/ 70w MH. I changed the stand I built for the 10 to fit the aquapod(pics will be coming). I should be adding water this coming week. I have all the sand I need, should I put water in then add sand?? Or put sand in then add water?? I like the look of a DSB(semi-DSB?) about 2-3". So that's what I will have. Also any ideas on stocking will be appreciated. 2-3 fish only. I know I want as least one firefish(preferebly purple, gotta keep the fiance happy). Thinking maybe a shrimp/goby pair too. Any other suggestions?? Need some coral suggestions too.... Inverts?? Just looking for ideas.

I know some people put sand, cover sand with plastic garbage bag, add water, remove bag. Supposed to help with dust storm. Others just dump it in and wait out the storm. I like the shrimp / goby idea. When i get my 24 biocube running I want to get a yellow watchman and pistol. Good luck.

thanks mizer, good idea about the bag, heard of using a plate to pour water on, so it doesn't stir the sand all up, bag would work too

Yes, there has been progress, but since I decided which tank and route I was going to go, I started a build thread. You can click the link in my signature, and check it out. I need to update some things on it too, just been lazy. Thanks for the interest.
