help

i got my first 2 fish for my 12 gallon nano today.
I got a clown and a royal gramma the gramma went behind the tank numerous times and went under rocks. it looked like he was stuck so i had to move rocks a few times. since i put him in my tank there was only one time when he was swimming most of the time he is on his side and he doesnt look good
is this normal behavior?
The clown in find but im concerned about the gramma

when it goes under the rocks behind the tank like inbetween the sand and rock is it getting itself stuck or is it normal?
