frag glue safety?

i just did my first frag (zoa) it happened by accident, i was rearanging things when a zoa fragged off and floated to the filters intake (long story)
i finally got it out of the tank where i glued it to a small peice of live rock.
i used mr sticky's under water glue, it takes 24 hours to cure. so in that time i have this tiny frag in a cup, the zoa actually opened up in the cup lol
im afraid to put it in the tank cuz the glue is still tacky, what if a snail gets stuck on it or a fish tastes it and gets a glued mouth? what does everyone do in times like this?
is it ok if i let it cure in the cup until tomorrow when i know its safe to add to the tank?

you can use any gel-based super glue. the liquid doesn't set up fast enough. i would use a piece of rock that has been in the saltwater for a while to glue it to. i usually use an empty shell of some-sort to glue my frags to. it all depends on where you are going to put the frag in your tank. good luck and keep us posted on it.
keeping your frag in the cup is ok if you have some light to it... depending on how long you're gonna keep it in the cup. i wouldn't keep it out of a light source for more than 10 hours (just like the normal light cycle of your tank).

i noticed a few more zoa's coming off the rock and floating into the filter strainer.
whats going on? the rock is over crowded with zoos, could it be their way of propagating? my tank must be a little too windy because they cant land in the sand they just keep floating around the tank.
its like a zoa storm lol

well i just went to place the frag in the tank and it fell off the rock as soon as i picked it up. the glue i used was meant for fragging and corals, so i give up i flushed it down the toilet.
if i bother to do this again would a rubber band work better?

I, personally, have had much better luck with rubberbands than with glue. The rubberbands don't hurt anything and eventually you can cut them off. Everytime I have tried using glue the frag doesn't stick to whatever I glue it to. My next try with glue will be on a boughten piece of frag-cement that has been soaked in saltwater. I also tried the glue that is suppose to work on frags and didn't have luck with it. I say... use a rubberband. I'll let ya know what happens the next time a try the glue and a cement-frag. Good luck.

I have very good luck with Gel Super Glue. It sets up in a few minutes and i rarely have problems with it. Its cheap too. I got 10 packages of dual tubes for 33 cents each package of two.

super glue gel has always worked well for me...maybe not on the first try, but it will eventually work pretty well until the coral grows over it or attaches itself.

okee so now i have another zoo that fell off, i got it on a small rock with a tiny rubberband, the rubber band is very loose because i was kinda afraid to handle the zoo (safety for myself) i was not wearing gloves cuz lets face it those things are very clumbersome lol
when do zoo's attach on their own? how long does it take? i want it to attach soon cuz that pesky huge turbo snail topples over alot of rocks and corals
also the zoo's on the main colony dont fit on the rock anymore, i think this is why they are letting go, they seem to be pushed all the way to the edge. do they grab onto other rocks this way? they seem to be a little dumb lol

patience pastina. it will attach soon.
i have now given up on superglue! i got a beautiful little red mushroom from a club member yesterday, took it home, glued it to a cement disk (that had been soaking in sw), watched it be all pretty in the tank, went to bed, and when i woke up in the morning it was GONE! no where in the tank!
what happened to it? will hermits or an emerald crab eat it?
i had this happen to me a few weeks ago with another mushroom from a different club member. same scenerio.
this is so frustrating and disappointing.
i am now using rubberbands only!

aww lol
i bet its under a rock or something, youll find it
the trouble with rubberbands is im afraid to pull it tight in fear i may get squirted by zoa juice lol
i came across one site that said to used thin netting for shrooms, you place the shroom on the rock then wrap it in netting and rubberband it under the bottom, maybe like a mini pony tail or something it wasnt in great detail.
i guess the netting can be from a cut up fish net
then just wait until it attach then remove the netting

Or you could use panty hose. You can get a cheap pair for a couple bucks. Get the biggest size cut them as big as you need then rubberband.

not sure if panty hose will let in enough light and circulation
a net has a more open weave, you dont want to suffocate the shroom
unless you get fishnet pantyhose lol youll have the hottest shroom in town
