Question

feeding???

i just bought a yellow polyp rock and i was wondering if i need to feed it?
i have a 5.5 gal. and i never had to b4 w/ larger tanks becuase they would usually grab what the fish didnt, but this time i have no fish... i was thinking of hand feeding each lil polyp about once a week w/ an extra long tong, is that ok???
any advise would be awsome!

thx, -don

i don't think it would hurt.... as long as you don't over do it... but you have a nano and i'm sure you know how to not overdo it. My zoanthids sometimes catch bits of food and close around it, all i can say is it sure dosen't hurt them and if anything they might grow faster....

If it was me I wouldn't feed them. Yellow polyps just tend to grow and even though you don't feed any food to fish ect.... there is still some "marine snow" that is floating through the tank because of the critters and your LR.

Just seems like a bunch of extra work when the yellow polyps will grow anyway as long as the water parameters are OK.

Just my $.02

If you feed it, I would endeavor once a month at best. Mine seemd to grow and spread and I never did a direct feeding. Mine get fed when I feed my fish I am guessing. IN a tank by themselves, with shrooms, they seem to do well with no food. Maybe a drop from one of those plastic eyedroppers once a week in the entire 10 gal tank.
