Eclipse 12g

ok so i had a large reef tank in the past and desided to make our 12g Eclipse tank into a (mild) reef. What I mean is the easy stuff not going all out here. So the tank is re-set back up with 20lbs of live sand and 15lbs of live rock. My only question is the lighting. I found a retrofit with 2 32w bulbs the will fit into the stock hood but the problem is getting water on the bulbs. My other choise is this http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/204884/product.web

which will sit on top of the tank. This means i will have to take the lid and stock filtration off. I would put one good gph or two lower gph powerheads for water movement and mild mechanical filtration. What are your thoughts on this

here's what i need clearity on. If i do the retrofit http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/204886/product.web

i will have the issue with water on the retrofit. And the stock light cover wont cover 15" long and 4" wide bulbs. So my next thought was to take off the lid and filter completely and do this light http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/204884/product.web

and then have one good or two average powerheads for mechanical filtration and water movement. Because i have 15lbs of lr and 20lbs of ls and we all know thats the real filter I see what you did Tim and i would like to do the retrofit and keep the filter but my problem still remains how do i cover the retrofit so it doesnt get wet and die.

I'm not following you. There is no problem ordering the 2 x 65 w fixture and removing the stock hood.
it's 21 " wide though what are the dimensions of the tank?

Did you read tims thread on his retrofit? I think he left the bulbs exposed but it's been awhile since I read the thread.

well i went to my lfs which happens to be ThatFishPlace. And went with the Orbit 20" 2 x 40w 420/460 actinic, 6700/10000 daylight, and 2 luner lights on top fixture. It actually fits with the stock filter on.
